What We Do

Cajouben is the Bahamas’ leading producer of top of the line eco friendly products. We transform discarded tires and other found objects into functional high quality works of art that can be worn or used to enhance any décor.  We specialize in creating statement pieces   as a part of our standard line and as custom orders for  those clients that would prefer something  exclusive.

 Our story

The idea behind the Cajouben Brand came about in the Summer of 2015.  Our CEO’s  6 year old son was desperate to make some money for his summer vacation and to purchase himself a tablet. When he approached his mom about his dilemma she instructed him to go into their yard and think up an idea to make him the cash that he needed.  A few moments later he returned with an old tire and an idea.

 

That idea was to transform that old tire into wallets. He sat down with his mom and they figured out how to transform that tire into wallets. Once they had done that successfully. They were able to sell those wallets. He walked away with a profit of $175. Thus the idea of using tires was born.

 

 

A few weeks later his mom received a grant from the Ministry of Youth to launch an apprenticeship program for at-risk youth that would introduce them to entrepreneurship and teach them to create their own products from recyclable materials.  That program is called the Mega Mergers Program.  www.mmprogram.wix.com/info

 

The program was severely oversubscribed therefore forcing her to take a different approach. So the idea of transforming tires into wallets and footstools were introduced to the group.  At the end of the summer, a few of the apprentices stayed on to complete their apprenticeship. It was this decision to keep apprentices on that fueled the formation of MM Creative Works and the development of the Cajouben Brand.
